The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert Wilkinson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: William Hugh Wilkinson
Condolence: Robert's grandfather (Herbert Arthur Wilkinson) was a younger brother (by two years) of my own grandfather (William Thomas Wilkinson). Unfortunately their father, Frederick Wilkinson, died at a young age in 1877, leaving their mother (nee Harriet Ann Townend) to bring up a family of 13 children ranging upwards from under 3 years old.
They lived in Cleveland House, Barnes then.
I wish I had known Robert earlier, but was put in touch with him latterly when he was ailing and after we had moved away from Toronto. Suffice to say I enjoyed our chats and we were able to exchange 'family' information....he had kept a good collection of family photos.....and we had fun trying to pen the names to the faces. With the help of his good friend Marc he managed to transmit some of his photos to my computer.
My condolences go out to all who knew him. He was a credit to our rather extensive family group. He was active (as had been his wife, I understand) in theatre and drama in the Toronto area.

Condolence: I always called Robert, cousin Robert, but he was in fact first cousin to my mother, Jean Iliffe. We, my husband and myself, lived in Toronto in 1972 and Robert and his wife and Father, Victor, were very good to us by looking after our needs by taking us to see apartments and inviting us to one or two of Robert's plays he was in. When we left, he would come over to England and stay with my Mother and we paid another visit to Toronto about 15 years ago. We visited Robert and went out for a lovely meal. About seven years ago Robert came to stay with us in England and we showed him the sights round our small town and then he went for a visit to where he used to live as a boy in Whitby, Yorkshire. He was a lovely, gentle man and I am sorry he has passed away.

Condolence: I am grateful that Robert was able to remember his trips to England and other travels and share them with me while he was at the nursing home. We were able to reminisce about the shows he had been in and all the people we knew. Wonderful to have been able to share our travels and theatre memories to the last.

Condolence: Although it's many years later, I have lots of happy theatre memories of Bob. He was a friendly, accepting, warm and generous man.
