Neil Anthony Cooper
October 06, 1964 - October 20, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Anthony Cooper.
Neil was the caring son of Thelma and Alistair who passed along their love of their Scottish heritage to him. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn (Sidon), and was the loving and encouraging father to Jeanette and Christopher. He was very proud of their many accomplishments. Neil loved to travel with his family and helped to document their adventures and achievements in the annual family newsletter.

Neil was very fortunate in his life to have many long friendships which he cherished. He will be remembered as a devoted friend who could always be counted on for encouragement, support, advice and a laugh. He had a witty sense of humour that was sure to make you smile.

Throughout his career, first as a structural engineer, and later as an owner in the construction company Cooper Gordon Ltd., Neil strove to be the best he could be and was an inspiration to others. He was a trusted advisor to the professionals around him, and was admired for his sound and practical advice.

We would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the last two years. A special thank you to Drs. Hedley and Rothstein and the staff of 17B at Princess Margaret Hospital for their care and dedication, and for helping make a difficult journey a little less so.

We will be holding a celebration of life on Saturday November 9th at the Weston Golf and Country Club (50 St Phillips Rd, Etobicoke) from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m, speeches will be held at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to either The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation directed to the Marie Thompson Fund for Biliary Cancer Research or The Salvation Army would be appreciated.

With a calming presence, he was also a wonderful mentor;
A consummate professional and good person, fun to work with.

Working with Neil and his entire team at Cooper-Gordon has always been a pleasure. Thorough, attention to detail, polite are all the first words that come to my mind. He will definitely be missed by all of us, in the construction industry.
With sorrow,

Dear Marilyn, Jeanette, and Christopher,

This comes as a complete shock. I was just thinking about your family last weekend - driving past Lloyd Manor, and thinking about Neil and his haunted kitchen with Halloween tomorrow.

Neil was such a pivotal leader for both the pack and troop of the Mighty 4th Humber West. As an inexperienced leader, I learned so much from Neil, and am grateful for all the years that he mentored me. Neil was smart, funny, and the quinessential engineer.

My deepest sympathy to you. I will miss him dearly.
