My memory of Uncle Frank is that his character was like his name - frank and forthright, a man who spoke his mind. What you saw is what you got!
He loved his family beyond measure Elizabeth, Frank Jr., Lizzie, his parents and his sisters Cynthia and Esme. This tribute is on behalf of his sisters. Frank was the 3rd of 4 children. Cynthia (dec.), Errol (dec.) and Frank were three peas in a pod, as children and teenagers. Esme the youngest recalls she was not included in their games and jaunts with friends. It is as young adults that Frank and Esme grew close, taking turns to make and pack each others lunch bags. As a child I recall Uncle Frank visiting his parents regularly. Until he migrated to Canada, every Saturday he got fresh baked bread made by his mother or sister Cynthia. This is a family that did not hug and kiss and speak their love for each other. It was evident in their deeds. I was always stuck by his sisters annual ritual of baking and posting him a birthday fruit cake and dried sorrel and that phone call. In turn he never missed sending them birthday and Christmas envelopes.
His love and concern for them never dwindled, Frank was a loving and devoted brother to his sisters to his last day.
For myself my uncle and I loved each other at arms lenght, in an I gotcha kind of way. We never spoke it but I always knew that he represented my deceased father Errol's presence in my life. Despite my generally terrible memory.. do you know I can recall so many of my interactions with Uncle Frank and Aunt Elizabeth ..I still have and cherish the piggy bank they gave me for my 8th birthday .

Dearest aunty Liz & cuz,

My heartfelt sympathy goes out you both. I cannot imagine how you both must feel at this time. Uncle Frank was truly a gem in our family , I always looked forward to hearing his life experiences in his lovely ascent. He had a way to make any situation comical and was to coin a phrase, "Unforgettable ". May he rest in God's care until we meet again. I will truly miss uncle Frank.

Love,

Victoria Blanc
